Where the Vision Movie came from

Hedley launched the Vision Movie in October 2006, and it went viral on YouTube. The idea was simple: write your vision for your life as a script, then film it, so you can watch your future as a movie instead of holding it as a vague hope. That script is what we now call a Lifescript.

Every advance in technology since has gone into making that movie more vivid. AI is the biggest leap yet. For the first time, you don't just watch your vision. You star in it.

Here is Hedley's original walkthrough of how a Vision Movie is made.

How to make a Vision Movie, by Hedley Cohan (4 min 42 s). Recorded before AI made it possible to star in your own film.

Biography

Hedley Cohan is an Australian television director with 40 years behind the camera, and the creator of the Vision Movie.

For two decades he has toured the world giving lectures, seminars and workshops, helping thousands of people set bold visions for their highest possibility.

He is also a practising Kinesiologist, and has been since the early 1980s. That work has honed a particular skill: probing what a person's heart actually longs for. Many people feel directionless simply because they have never met their deepest motivation. Hedley helps clients find their North Star, then choose endeavours that genuinely align with it.

He lives in Byron Bay, Australia, with his family, practising astronomy, meditation and the growing of hydroponic tomatoes.

Coaching services

Your vision, then the actions that make it real.

One-to-one coaching with Hedley Cohan, on Zoom. Your Vision Movie is the infrastructure: we use it to coach you toward the future you have already pictured, and to choose the actions you take now to get there. And if your movie is not finished, Hedley can work on it with you online, inside the app itself.

40 yrsTV director. Knows how to get a story from an idea to the screen.
40 yrsCertified practising kinesiologist. Finds what you actually want, under what you say you want.
CertifiedLife coach. Turns the vision into goals, and goals into this week's actions.
A director for hire

Hedley can work on your movie with you, inside the app.

Using the collaborative technology built into the app, Hedley can directly collaborate on the editing of your Vision Movie, solve tech issues, create new images and even finish the movie, if you can't. It is like a director for hire, from the man who created the concept.

How it works

  1. Create your vision. Together we write your Lifescript, the script of your vision. If you have already made a Vision Movie, we start from there.
  2. Complete your Vision Movie. As a lifelong television director, Hedley helps you finish a movie that is honest, bold and yours. He can work on it with you online, inside the app: editing, solving tech issues, creating new images, and finishing it if you can't.
  3. Coach toward it. With the movie as the map, each session sets the goals it points to and the actions you will take before the next one.

Who it is for

  • You have made a Vision Movie, or want to, and you want it to be more than a beautiful film.
  • You feel a lack of direction and suspect it is because you have never named your deepest motivation.
  • You have started a Vision Movie and got stuck, on the editing, the tech or the images, and you want it finished.
  • You have a bold vision and you want an experienced director and coach in your corner while you act on it.

What you get

  • A 60-minute one-to-one session on Zoom, recorded, so you can listen back instead of taking notes.
  • Kinesiology-informed questioning to zero in on your North Star: what you truly want, not what you think you should want.
  • Hands-on help with your movie inside the app: Hedley can collaborate directly on the editing, solve tech issues, create new images and even finish the movie, if you can't.
  • Directorial notes on your Lifescript and Vision Movie, if you have one in progress.
  • A short list of concrete actions to take before we meet again, chosen by you, sharpened by Hedley.

Questions

Do I need a finished Vision Movie first?

No. Many people book their first session to write the Lifescript that becomes the movie. If your movie is finished, bring it; if it is in draft, bring that.

Can Hedley help me finish my movie?

Yes. Using the collaborative technology within the app, Hedley can work directly on your Vision Movie with you: editing it, solving tech issues, creating new images, and even finishing the movie if you can't. Think of it as a director for hire, from the man who created the concept.

What happens after I pay?

You get an email from Hedley straight away. Within 24–48 hours he will send you a few times for a Zoom session; reply with the one that suits you and the Zoom link follows.

Which time zones?

Hedley is in Byron Bay, Australia (AEST, UTC+10). He offers morning and evening slots so that Europe, Asia and the Americas can all find a time.

Can I reschedule?

Yes. Email support@visionmovie.app at least 24 hours before your session and we will find another time. The session is yours; it does not expire.

Is the session really recorded?

Yes, on Zoom, and the recording is sent to you afterwards. It is for you only; it is never shared.
